Fair Life Africa Foundation is a not-for-profit, non-governmental organisation based in Lagos, Nigeria. We operate through the establishment of social initiatives which alleviate oppression by ‘empowering people for a fairer life…‘
Our Vision is “to see a more just and equal society in Africa…”
FAIR LIFE AFRICA is a progressive, humanitarian organisation. It is committed to the mission of empowering people through practical social initiatives and programs. It stands for a fairer life for all people, by improving the life chances of the most disadvantaged. It serves people of all faiths, races, gender and any other orientation, without discrimination. It will promote the values of social inclusion and empowerment, by commissioning research and social awareness schemes that will inform social policies and attitudes.
To enrich the lives of the most impoverished in society;
To support and empower the most vulnerable members of society, enabling them to live a fair life;
To effect positive changes in their lives through social initiatives and programs.
Care Continuity Challenge Initiative was the first initiative of Fair Life Africa Foundation. It was focused on street children, providing first CARE, then CONTINUITY (which is rehabilitation), and addressing the CHALLENGEs in their lives, to enable them stay off the streets for good.
We ran a three-month pilot programme, which supported nine children, before opening our home for an academic year to 12 children we had accessed so we could reunite them with their families. However, the initiative was discontinued as the outcomes didn’t encourage additional funding.
The programme is divided into four main pathways to success. These are:
THE ACADEMIC – Academically bright children will be encouraged and empowered to complete their education, and ultimately supported into employment, to become independent and successful;
THE APPRENTICE – Capable children with skills in one or more vocation, who may not be academically strong, will be encouraged and empowered to develop their vocational skills and achieve relevance;
THE ARTIST – Talented children with artistic gifts will be enabled to perfect their talents, while still encouraged to develop other skills and complete their education, to achieve their potential and succeed;
THE ATHLETE – Children talented in sports will be enabled to grow their abilities, while still encouraged to develop other skills and complete their education, in order to achieve their potential and succeed
Are designed to help those who are most vulnerable and empower them to achieve their potential…
Keep a child off the streets and in school by sponsoring their education
Adopt a brother or sister in need by helping them through university
A Good Samaritan project that allows anyone in need to receive help online.
Bring a child from disadvantage to advantage by sponsoring their primary and secondary school education and giving them a chance to achieve their potential.
Through this programme, Fair Life Africa links children who are less fortunate and at risk with kind-hearted individuals, who give a regular donation, starting from N30,000 monthly, to enable us to settle their academic fees. Donors can also choose to give to a fund specifically for this initiative to help any child in need.
Children in the Disadvantage to Advantage programme also get to enjoy outings and events they might otherwise miss out on. Most notable are our Valentine Brunches, Christmas parties, and Children’s Day events.
Big Brother Scholarship is a new initiative of Fair Life Africa to respond to the high number of young adults who reach out to us seeking help to go to or to complete their university courses.
Like the D2A Initiative, recipients of the scholarship are linked with generous members of the society keen to help their brother or sister in need. The amount donated is based on the unique needs and challenges of the student. It may be one-off or a regular donation.
Support given ranges from course fees, rent, provisions, transport, or living allowance. Students apply online and are matched with donors. Donors can also choose to give to a fund specifically for this initiative to help any student in need.
The Spring Initiative is an avenue whereby any member of society in need may appeal for support via Fair Life Africa’s website or app, and any other member of society willing and able to support will be able to see their appeal and donate in part or in full to support them.
It is a little like Go Fund Me. Specific criteria must be met, and each applicant’s case would be assessed before being approved to go live. In this way, Fair Life Africa will give visibility to people going through different challenges, whether medical, accommodation, education, or employment, to assist them in getting aid.
Donors can also choose to give to a fund specifically for this initiative to help anyone in need. Ten percent of all donations made via the platform funds our administrative work.
